Lesson structure
Beginners start with 45-minute lesson once a week. At the teacher's discretion, the lesson will be lengthened to 60 minutes as the student advances by time and progress.
Calendar
The 2009 - 2010 school year will be divided into three semesters: fall, winter, and spring.
Examination concert will be held after each semester. Examination concerts are recorded and sent to the Jury of the Association of Musically Gifted Students in Moscow (Russia) for an evaluation and grading at the end of the year.
Tests on all subjects such as playing technique, sigh reading, theory, and rhythm, will be taken on the last individual lesson, where independent judges will be invited. A report card will be provided after each semester.
Besides RMAOA events, all students are encouraged to participate in offered NVMTA events.
*The calendar of events will be given to the student on their first lesson.
Make up, terminations/withdraw
Stated in local and national association yearbooks under "Suggested Teaching Policies", NVMTA does not support the offering of make-up lessons.
However, RMAOA has decided that three lessons throughout the year (one in each semester), will be allowed to be made up at the end of a school year (15 - 30 June) due to:
severe snow and icy weather (when it could be dangerous to drive);
a student's sudden illness with a high fever. For the health of all concerned, a student will be sent home if contagiously sick.
If lessons are terminated by the teacher, or by the student with a 30-day advance notification, the amount of tuition paid for will be credited to the fee for the lessons received. If you have a positive credit balance, the amount will be refunded to you. If additional tuition is due, you will be billed. If lessons are terminated by the student with less than 30-days notice, the full amount of the following month's tuition is due and payable. A withdraw request form should be submitted to RMAOA.
Piano Performance Class
There will be 14 classes during the September 2009 - June 2010 school year and required to be attended. They will be not open to parents.
Students will be divided by age and skill levels into small groups.
Every student will be asked to perform a piece from memory, prepared in two weeks before the class.
